Your Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Varanasi
Private airport transfer and hotel check-in. As evening falls, make your way to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the Ganga Aarti — one of India's most breathtaking spectacles. Priests in saffron robes perform a choreographed fire ceremony of lamps, incense, conch shells and chanting to thousands of onlookers from the river and the steps. There is nothing else like it on earth.
Day 2
Varanasi — Dawn on the Ganges & Sarnath
Rise before dawn for a rowing boat ride along the sacred Ganges — the most extraordinary way to experience Varanasi. Watch as the city awakens: pilgrims bathing, priests in prayer, pyres at the burning ghats, smoke rising into the soft morning light. Walk the 84 ghats with your guide. Afternoon: drive to Sarnath (10 km) — the deer park where the Buddha gave his first sermon. Visit the Dhamek Stupa (3rd century BC), Sarnath Museum, and the ruins of the ancient monastery.
Day 3
Varanasi → Prayagraj (Allahabad)
Drive to Prayagraj (approx 1.5 hrs) — home of the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Take a boat ride to the exact point of confluence — one of the holiest spots in Hinduism, and the site of the world's largest human gathering, the Kumbh Mela. Visit Anand Bhawan, the historic home of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Day 4
Prayagraj → Ayodhya
Drive to Ayodhya (2 hrs) — the birthplace of Lord Ram and one of Hinduism's seven sacred cities. Visit the magnificent new Ram Janmabhoomi Temple (inaugurated 2024), Hanuman Garhi fortress-temple, the elaborate Kanak Bhawan temple complex, and take part in evening Aarti on the banks of the Sarayu River.
Day 5
Ayodhya → Bodh Gaya
Drive or take the train to Bodh Gaya (approx 5 hrs) — the most sacred site in Buddhism, where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in 528 BC. Check into your hotel and spend the evening in quiet contemplation at the Mahabodhi Temple — one of India's earliest brick structures, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Monks from Tibet, Thailand, Japan, Sri Lanka and across the world chant here continuously.
Day 6
Bodh Gaya & Departure
Morning at the Bodhi Tree — sit in the shadow of the sacred fig tree's descendant. Visit the Animesh Lochana Chaitya, the Vajrasana (Diamond Throne), and the seven sacred sites around the temple. Explore the international monasteries built by Buddhist nations from across Asia. Transfer to Gaya airport for your onward journey.
